The Samà Parc
is located between Cambrils and Montbrió del Camp, at 90 m
above sea level, at 5 km far from the coast line and between the stream
of Alforja and Riudecanyes.
Salvador Samà i Torrens, the Marquees of Marianao, was the
builder and developer. The park keeps this romantic atmosphere from
the late colonial era, as the marquee was the heir of a family from
Cuba. He wanted to bring to the Baix Camp the exotic atmosphere
of a lost colony. That's why he entrusted the garden project to
Josep Fontseré i Mestres (Ciutadella Park builder).
The layout of Samà Park is based on straight tree-lined
paths with open spaces and fine buildings.
Its house and its pond are the core of the whole park; followed
by another important point such as Anglulo Tower and its rainfall.
The lake, together with its canal and its rainfall, are the most
beautiful points in the Park. There are three islands linked up
by cement bridges as if they were wooden logs. The middle island
boasts a mountain of a remarkable beauty, made out of huge rocks,
which hide an interior grotto with a jetty, and a viewpoint with
a small temple that makes it even more attractive. Its canal connects
with an original waterfall, which supplies the whole lake with water.
